Keeping the Marlboro College Graduate School community connected

Feeling Nostalgic about MGC on a Cold February Night!

So, it has been a loooong time since I have gotten in touch with anyone at MGC but it doesn't mean that the people I met there are out of my mind-out of mind out of sight does NOT pertain to this case, on the contrary, ever present in my thoughts.

I hate that I always do this, I move on way too quickly and don't make the effort to get in touch right away-must be my attention problems!

I had an amazing time at MGC. I learned so much not only about amazing tools but about myself. The best thing about MGC was that I found great inspiration in all the people whom I had contact with and now I'm feeling the pangs of wanting to reconnect.

What am I up to?

Well, after MGC I did one more year at the private school I was teaching and was able to start the ball rolling and made my mark in regards to technology integration in the school. Non the less, I found myself at a loss. Uninspired, not because of the school but because I had really been ignoring my calling to go back to school to become a Speech Pathologist. I remember very clearly coming to an open house at MGC and meeting our wonderful Kevin. I chatted with him about my career plans and how my true goal was to become an SLP, but how because of the scheduling conflicts I needed to at least get myself started on getting a master's degree in something-might as well be in education. Boy oh boy, I certainly got more than I had planned. "Oh the Places you'll Go" (Dr. Seus book title) should be the pitch of MGC. I had no idea. Everything I learned at MGC from Lisa's Project Management class and her introductory quote (parapharased here) "the information you learn in this class will change your life" to Elaine's amazing guidance in helping me find my voice and confidence, Jenn's amazing instruction in webdesign and Kevin's contagious energy, is ever present in my daily life. I don't mean to be dramatic but in all seriousness, all the people I mentioned above and those I didn't mention, still influence me every day!

I of course miss more than anything else my peers. You all look awesome by the way and I miss you tons. I'm amazed to read of all the places you have gone.

I have applied to the master's program at UMass at Amherst for a degree in Speech Pathology-I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll find out in May 2009. In the mean time, I'm taking a class in Phonology and one in Introduction to Audiology. How does technology fit into this new path? Can you say TELETHERAPY?!! Yes, speech therapy done through videoconferencing methods! At this point it is an independant study on how to make this possible. Many have started to pioneer the journey of teletherapy but we are aiming to make it possible for Massachusetts.

Anyways, loving you all for all you have done for me and hoping to get in touch.
