Academic Technology Specialist, two-year position
Academic Technology at Keene State College is seeking a team focused, innovative, experienced instructional technologist to fill the role of Academic Technology Specialist. The successful candidate will support learning and teaching through the effective use of technology. Position is currently funded for two years with the possibility of continuance or conversion.
Academic Technology is housed in the newly created Center for Engagement, Learning, and Teaching (CELT http://keeneweb.org/celt) which is part of the Academic Affairs Division. In collaboration with the Academic Technology Director and colleagues the academic technology specialist will develop and support instructional technologies and resources into locally-useful instructional and scholarly tools, and will document best practices and approaches for using such tools. He/She will work closely with faculty and colleagues in CELT to explore the use of technology to support and enhance learning, teaching and scholarship at KSC. Duties include, but are not limited to:
# Identify and implement appropriate technology and instructional strategies to meet student learning outcomes.
# Collaborate with faculty and AT/CELT staff on curriculum development, pedagogy, learning and technology.
# Provide training opportunities to campus which support the effective use of technology in learning and teaching.
# Provide support for individual faculty, departments, programs, and campus projects and initiatives.
# Apply principles of instructional design to support effective integration of technology into learning and teaching.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree and two years experience in the instructional, educational, or information technology field; experience researching, evaluating, and implementing new technologies; demonstrated ability to create online and/or print resources/tutorials that document the use of information technology for learning and teaching; strong analytical and communication skills, with a particular emphasis on effectively communicating the complexities of technology to a wide-range of audiences; strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and approaches quickly and independently and with a team on collaborative projects; experience developing and leading technology workshops; and excellent customer service skills.
Preferred: Experience in higher education; experience in the use of technology to support instructional practices; project management skills and experience; and experience working with new and emerging technologies such as blogs and wikis. Experience supporting Excel and content management systems such as Blackboard or Epsilen a plus. Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
