About Me:
I returned to the US in the summer of 07 from 5 years of teaching English abroad in Japan and Poland. My wife and I, along with our daughter, wanted to move to Vermont and I was fortunate enough to be invited to become the admissions lead here at the Graduate Center. It's been a steep learning curve but I feel that recent successes have spoken volumes about the staff and community of the Grad Center of which I am happy to be a part.

We commenced the heck outta that place

For the record, I really didn't enjoy anything about my University commencement. In fact, the only thing that stands out about the commencement was that it was unpleasant. I don't remember any of the heartfelt advice, the firmness of the handshake, the tearful goodbyes, the funny antics of the graduates as they crossed the stage, none of it. I know that you have all been enjoying your summers; the lazy days, the warm sun, the overall fuzzy joys of lemonade, pools, flowers, ... puppies, ...umm... uhhh, sweltering heat & sweat... well, anyway, all that stuff that is summer for you. But, alas, something has been nagging at you. A little raspberry seed in the back molar of your subconcious. No matter how beautiful the days have been, no matter how lively the conversation, no matter how wonderfully lax the work schedule… Continue

My second blog. That means I have now doubled my bloggy productivity. Amazing.

I have a relatively short one today due to the frantic pace of creation and reinvention here at the gradcenter (it's like an ER without the knives or doctors... or patients. Oh yeah, there's also not much blood... ummm, except for this terrible paper cut I got while stuffing env... uhhh, and we dont say "Stat" and "EKG" either. but, actually, we do have rooms... sooo that is kind of ER-ish).

In all honesty, it has been really busy here with a still new SEO (search engine optimization) campaign… Continue

Spring has...umm, Sprang? No, no... Springed? What's it again?

It may seem like old news to those of you who don't live in Vermont, but the fact that spring has come to the Connecticut River Valley is such a wonderful shock to the system after the snow and cold of my first Vermont winter that I will probably remain saddled with a perma-grin until mid September. Certainly, it was worth the wait. Looking out my office window at the river and, beyond the rushing water, New Hampshire is a little bittersweet as I am so pleased to see the sun (on the first day of… Continue
