Permalink Reply by Theresa Chamberland on March 12, 2013 at 4:26pm Mount Holyoke College is seeking an experienced Web Designer who will be responsible for creating and executing web designs and site building in Drupal 7. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Web Development in the Office of Communications. She/he will collaborate with the College Web Team to ensure correct implementation of the UI front-end and user interaction, and with the creative team to make certain visual design ideas are faithfully interpreted.
Responsibilities include converting designs, style tiles, and wireframes from Photoshop to Drupal 7 templates, themes, and features, using HTML5, CSS3, and Adobe Creative Suite. The successful candidate must also be able: to apply best design practices; to actively engage in website design and user interface design for mobile devices and web-based applications; and be proficient in cross-browser and cross-platform rendering issues, W3C standards, Section 508, content management systems, and all aspects of web design production.
He/she must have experience in both visual design and coding and be able to understand, leverage, and advise on best web practices by maintaining a good understanding of target audience needs and UI trends. She/he must be able to work in a team, be willing to learn new technologies quickly, and keep abreast of new Drupal modules and features.
The successful candidate must be proficient in Drupal 7 site building, HTML5, CSS3, and Adobe Creative Suite. She/he is knowledgeable in IA and UI development; has the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while simultaneously functioning as part of a team; and has a solid understanding of practical benefits and limitations of Internet and mobile technologies. He/she has experience working with a development team, version control system (GIT), Drush, PHP, web analytic tools, creating reusable templates for email campaigns, and marketing and branding concepts, along with the ability to write and speak effectively. Experience in higher education is a bonus. A minimum of 3 years experience in professional front-end web development and a B.A. degree are required.
